Based on the english version, this is ok.

I still wonder... I have taken a short beginner's course in Chinese (only )and we were taught that this is the most normal greeting when meeting someone. To me it could well be "Hello"...or as it was taught to us something like "Good day/afternoon"...

We were also told that the words literally mean these things here (onko kaikki hyvin? is everything good/alright?), but this translation is something we DO NOT use in a situation where we meet someone in Finland and speak Finnish. (It is proper Finnish, but there is an assumption that the person looks like disturbed or sick before we use this.)

In Chinese, "Ni hao" is an "impersonal greeting," used in exactly the same way as the English "Hello."
"Ni" literally means "you" and "hao" literally means "good," but "ni hao" is not a question about the health/feelings/condition of the person you're greeting, like "How's it going?"
For it to be a question, it would be absolutely necessary to have a "ma" at the end, i.e. "Ni hao ma?"
Hope it helps!

So,the previous translations were the correct ones. Because of that, several of mine were turned down :-/

The Brazilian Portuguese version seems to have been validated too soon (without taking a vote, and just basing the "translation" on a vocabulary analysis of the Chinese phrase, perhaps?), and then all the other ones went, like dominoes, after it...

Sorry about that, Zephyr...

Hmm, if I remember correctly, now you have changed the original request, right? And based on that assumption, I will accept.
