Derniers messages | | | | | 20 Juin 2007 15:32 | | | But I do, I was in doubt about the French version, then I asked Thais to translate it for me into English. I saw that it was a verb in the original text,("precisa" , and not the name "precisão", which does mean "need". But as my level in Portuguese is too low, I asked Thais what was the exact tanslation of this verb (which person was it? 3rd person? 2nd person of singular, I didn't know)
So I allowed myself editing this English text... | | | 20 Juin 2007 15:43 | | goncinNombre de messages: 3706 | Francky,
The verb "precisa" means "(he)(she)(it) needs", or, in other words, the verb "to need" in the 3rd person singular of the present tense. As we in Portuguese use this verbal form when talking colloquially with others, its meaning is, indeed, "(you [singular]) need).
The translation you've done "You don't need to say you're sorry!" is more close to the original, literally speaking. When I translated "There's no need of excuses!", I was looking for the best form of the meaning in the English language.
But feel free to take any actions you think suitable. We all are in Cucumis to learn.
