I don't think the request is inverted. How would you translate "Muay Thai" in Italian? It's like Karate, Samurai and Ninja; would you consider them Japanese?
I think the requestor just wants to know how to write "Muay Thai" in Thai.

But these words have a meaning, e.g. I saw that karate means st like empty-hand...
