The French was ungrammatical, so I didn't know how to parse the first sentence, and therefore did it according to the original Romanian. I left the name "Gap" in Roman letters because I didn't know how to pronounce it (what kind of an "a" it was, whether or not the "p" was pronounced, etc). The Japanese reader would likely want to know how it was spelled anyway, so s/he would be able to find it on a map if necessary.
