Since graduating from the institute I have been working as a laboratory assistant in chemical analysis at Severskij canal.
I want to continue my studies at the Institute of Petroleum Chemistry. I think petrochemistry is one of the most promising areas these days.
The proposed subject of my research is the so called "nafthenic hump" in motor oils.

Hi muzima,

I think 'Naftenovij hump' will need a translation - I suspect this is something that occurs with the production of motor oil from raw oil. Could you try to find either a translation or a description of this please?

Experts - any suggestions?

Hi Lein,

actually "Naftenovij hump" is naphthene or naphthenic hump which is a special term quite common in oil/gas/petroleum industry (according to google).

Oh, sorry, one more question: the way it is written at the moment seems to suggest there is a University of chemistry and petroleum. I have seen some strange universities so I suppose it is possible, but it seems more likely this should say

I want to continue my studies of chemistry and petroleum at the University.

Could someone confirm this? Thanks!

Literally it says Institute of Petroleum Chemistry (and not of chemistry and petroleum).

And in this sentence institute is for educational/research institution which is most likely a part of university or independent higher education organization.

Hope this helps
