In the house I live there are 2 sitting rooms, one bathroom, one big saloon, and one kitchen. I don't have a bedroom because my seating group in the saloon has an armchair which becomes a bed when it is unfolded. I usually sleep there. There are two oil paintings of horses on the wall. My armchairs are brown and cow-designed. I decorated one of my rooms in traditional oriental style. There is one precious, old and hand-woven carpet on the floor. In addition to this there are sitting cushions with kilim design. And my books are in a wooden library in this room. |

my sitting group --> kafetzou, is this good English?
old and handloom carpet on the floor --> pommes frites, do you mean 'handwoven' by this? (made by hand?).. CC: kafetzou | | | 2007年 9月 2日 17:40 | | | I think the "sitting group" is a sofa set of some kind. I think "seating group" or "seating set" would be better.
Carpets are not woven, they are knotted, but you are right, Chantal - the correct translation of "el dokuma" is "hand-woven".
But there are many other errors of English syntax that need editing in this translation. 20:05 | | | Navajo rugs (carpets) are woven, not knotted. 20:35 | | | Those are not really carpets - they're weavings (known as kilims or kelims when you are talking about the ones from Turkey, Iran, etc.). |
