Assuming that the english translation is correct, my translation would be "Quería ser un hombre para entender cómo puedes ser tan ciego", as "querría" doesn't have two "r"; "chico" means a boy, "man" is "hombre"; I think also that in this context is more correct to use "ser" before "tan ciego" rather than "estar".

I guess "erkek" can be both "chico" or "hombre"
