My work experience was principally based on granulometry because this factor is the second criterion of consideration after security. It represents a sound basis of study, it's also very varied according to flour type. So, it's thanks to this parameter that I could do the comparison of the two types of pestles. |

마지막 글 | | | | | 2007년 4월 11일 03:54 | | | This looks good to me, but what's a "crusher"? | | | 2007년 4월 11일 10:40 | | | in French it must be "meule", I thought I saw "grinder", you know, to make some flour with wheat grains... Old ones are made in stone... | | | 2007년 4월 11일 13:30 | | | That sounds like a mill to me, but in French it's not "meule" - it's "broyeur" - what's the difference? | | | 2007년 4월 11일 17:43 | | | I think they are complementary ("meule" and "broyeur" . I had a look to a pdf file where it was explained that it is one of the oldest tools, "meule" was a flat stone on which people used to put some grains (or also other stuf) on this flat stone, then the "broyeur" was a cobble-stone used to crush the grains on the "meule", by grinding, in order to obtain a flour, or any pulverized stuff (according to what they crushed)
The oldest "meules" and "broyeurs" found were made at the late neanderthal era... | | | 2007년 4월 12일 00:42 | | | Um - OK, but what is it now? | | | 2007년 4월 12일 02:22 | | | Here in Singapore, we call it a "grindstone". The term "millstone" is also used, but it's not as common as "grindstone". | | | 2007년 4월 12일 13:10 | | | It appears the "broyeur" is a "pestle" in English; a grindstone is a wheel that grinds on its face. A millstone is a grindstone driven by a mill. Grinding and crushing are not the same action. A pestle can grind or crush. | | | 2007년 4월 12일 14:37 | | | Thanks everybody - I've edited it and accepted it. |
