"Kaldığın yerde ne iÅŸ yapıyorsun?" CC: Francky5591 | | | 2012年 3月 21日 23:43 | | | Thanks Mesud! | | | 2012年 3月 22日 16:18 | | | "geldiÄŸin yerde" daha iyi herhalde. | | | 2012年 3月 22日 16:28 | | | Which one is more similar to 'qaldigin'? 'Kaldığın' or 'geldiÄŸin'? Think of the pronunciation of 'q' | | | 2012年 3月 23日 00:11 | | | I think it is "e" instate of "a" and ofcause not 'q'. Because we don't have a 'q' in Turkish. | | | 2012年 3月 23日 15:34 | | | Nowadays, young people are using 'q' instead of 'k' when they message one another.
Also, what you're saying doesn't make sense in Turkish.
Geldiğin yerde ne iş yapıyorsun?
GeldiÄŸin yerde ne iÅŸ yapıyordun? | | | 2012年 3月 23日
15:00 | | | Hi FIGEN, could you provide a bridge. please?
Thanks in advance. CC: FIGEN KIRCI | | | 2012年 5月 13日 16:21 | | | hi lilian!
verbatim says 'what do you work for in the place where you stay?'
(I'm a beginner in Spanish, but it should be '¿En qué trabajas en el lugar donde te estás alojando?', if I'm not mistaken )
| | | 2012年 5月 13日 19:27 | | | I don't want to poke my noise into your bussiness but I just want to say something. Literally, the original says 'where you stay' but it may not sound good in English. Maybe this one will fit better:
What do you do where you live? (in terms of profession) | | | 2012年 5月 13日 21:59 | | | you're right Mesud, but the translation above's requested into another lang than English. thereby, I have to write the bridge literally, in order that Lilian could decide how to evaluate the Spanish translation.
(also,I'm affraid, the translation of 'What do you do where you live?' in Spanish'd have a different nuance of meaning than the source text.)
| | | 2012年 5月 15日 13:40 | | | Hummm... the real intention of the line may be:
"What are you doing there?"
Meaning: "What work are you doing where you are now?"
Am I right? | | | 2012年 5月 15日 13:59 | | | | | | 2012年 5月 16日 23:56 | | | lilian,
in the turkish text, the part 'where you are now' sounds as if the person is living/staying in the place where his work is (e.g. at the workplace/worksite/hotel). |
