The citizens of Tallinn, the Estonian capital, have been forced for the past six months to buy extra alcoholic beverages. Most Estonians have drink supplies at home - in case of unexpected guests or an invitation somewhere. Over the past six months the Tallinners have had to get used to the idea that if one wants a beer after dinner and there is none in the house, there won't be any in the shops either, not until the next morning.

	lilian canale Numărul mesajelor scrise: 14972	Hi Ollka, I don't read Lithuanian, but the sentence: "...the Tallinners had to make peace with the idea that if one..." sounds estrange. Could that be : "...the Tallinners have had to get used to idea that if one..." ?

	ollka Numărul mesajelor scrise: 149	It's "make peace" in Lithuanian, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to change it to "get used to"

	lilian canale Numărul mesajelor scrise: 14972	"Over the past six months..." demands the use of Present Perfect in English, so it should read: "...the Tallinners have had to get used to..." and perhaps "until the next morning" would be better. What do you think?
