The original text doesn't imply anything regarding the meantioned connection. It could be a family relation, she could have friends there that she regularly keeps in touch with or she could sometimes have spent some time in Finland. Anything really but I guess those are the most common connections a person can have.

Have already discussed with Francky about the "relations" which he confirmed to be ok even with other connections (not only of family type). (I should think here the meaning is rather other than family connection, guess it would have been said in another way in that case...)
