Kaç zamandır yüzüm tıraşlı

Remarks about the translation
This is a really good song from Ahmet Kaya named Şafak Türküsü.
I'm trying to translate it to English and publish it on the internet, because it's a real shame that we can't get such a good song like this in English for those who want to show it to people that doesn't understand Turkish.
So please could you help me with it.
These two words are the only ones I couldn't translate to English : ÅŸafak & kiriÅŸte.
By the way thanks for the help I appreciate it.
Best regards Åžaip Harmankaya

For a long time now my face is shaved
I waited, my eyes open, for dawn
as my hands stretch out
my ear listens to the string

Could it be: "My face was shaved"?
My dictionary says: Shaved; who needs a shave. Hard to chose the right meaning!

"Kaç zamandır" help to understand the meaning, and I agree with you (needs to be shaved), let's wait for other members.

Hi all

Could this be "For a long time my face needed a shave" (meaning that it has been shaved since)?

I got some interesting information about this text, and I wonder if I could change a bit, even though it's in the poll?

Hi Lena. Look at the Danish translation. There is a bridge from Figen; Don't know if you need it, but you can always read it.
