Maybe the teacher is trying to make things hard for him I think it may be said by someone at two different times (in one occasion s/he is very tired and in the other occasion s/he is not tired and thinks the night is too long)

I still don't understand. I think your translation is not quite right, smy. I would say something like, "If evening comes, we go to bed; if it is morning, we get up," but I'm not sure that's correct. Could you give me your opinion?

Kafetzou, I think this (olsa/yatsak)expresses a wish, but maybe I should change "be" to become or come.

Hmm. Now it's somewhat clearer, but the "and we ..." parts don't work in English. How about this:

May the evening come that we may go to bed, may the morning come that we may get up.
