In English, the saying is
"Do unto others as you would have done unto you."
Shall we edit it in this way and validate?

Tantine | | | 19 أفريل 2008 10:03 | | | "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I found this archaic version too.
and other saying : "Treat people the way you want to be treated". | | | 19 أفريل 2008 10:39 | | | "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." is the idiomatic expression. | | | 19 أفريل 2008 13:42 | | |
Hello, you can say that in so many ways . I don't know which one is better.
I am perfectly fine with all of them.
In romanian we say : "Ce ţie nu îţi place, altuia nu face"
Madeleine | | | 19 أفريل 2008 14:59 | | | Hi Myrddin
Welcome to cucumis. It's the first time we meet
It is precisely because the English has a ready made, idiomatic expression that I edited Madeleine's version, which conveyed the general meaning but which "felt" translated. A good translation is one that "feels" like it written directly in the target language.
I will add Freya's suggestion in the comments under the translation as an alternative to this rather old fashioned one.
Thanks for everyone's help.
Bises
