çocuğum doesnt necessarily mean boy right? my child seems more appropriate..?

For me "çocuğum " means hier "guy" not "my boy" or "my child" if we think about the meaning all text .

Yes, "çocuğum" can be translated not only "my boy". It can be translated as "my child/fellow/guy". But I think it's appropriate to use here "my boy" too as an informal form of address.
