I think a better translation is: it is better to be alone than in bad company. I checked on wordreference. here's the link.

This is not a correct translation of the original, apparently. Someone said under the Greek translation that the original Bulgarian translation said, "It is better to be alone than in the company of actors." I think there may be a better word for this in English, but I don't know what it is now.

I used the google translator and from Bulgarian into English it gives : "It is better to be alone than with actors". (I don't know what to do, actually, the requester didn't log in since February 2014)
