Perhaps "because of me" would be better.

In Danish, "Er du sur på mig" does not mean sulkyness because of me rather directed at me, as in "Are you mad at me". I don't know if there's another specific English phrase covering that.

Thanks wkn,
that is what I tried to write first: "Are you sulky at me?", but since Lilian know how to put the English right, I changed.

Can one use "whiny" or "fretful" here instead of sulky: "Are you whiny at me?"

?

Good morning Pia

We have to define exactly what "sur" mean.

Those adjectives you mentioned have some differences in meaning. Could you explain in other words or in what situation the original in Danish would be used? So that I could find the exact one in English.

Good morning Lilian

... it's when you become dissatisfied or irritated at someone ](I think a swear is "pissed of", sorry!) when they have done something you didn't liked, you became surly at them.

Hej Pia. I think you can use : Are you crabby at me" or " Are you grouchy at me?"

Hej again. ""moody at me" conveys the right meaning of "sur" too.

That´s funny, I would just have translated it to: Are you angry with me

Ok, I thought that angry is a bit stronger word than mody. But since you are the Danish expert .. I trust you Anita.

Edit again?

"Are you mad at me?" or
"Are you angry with me?"

For once I disagree with Anita. "Sur" is imho not angry which would be "vred" in Danish. "Sur" is how you feel towards someone who keeps annoying you but does no serious harm.

My wife, who teaches English here in Denmark, says that the best phrases to convey the feeling are

Are you mad at me
or
Are you cross with me.

well, let´s meet at "cross" then, shall we? :-) I think that´s a mighty fine solution.

Well IMO "Are you cross with me?" is a bit lighter than "mad" or "angry". I think it may fit.
