Nowadays, esthetic operations are used to repair the effects of injuries that have been caused by accidents rather than to give them a better appearance.

The English used in the translation is not acceptable and must be re-worked.

I used your advices and changed my translation... But,I haven't used "rather than to give...."...because, it doesn't give the same meaning with the original one....

the whole translation should be this way:

"Nowadays, esthetic operations are carried out in order to repair the defects that take place in peoples' appareance because of the accidents they experience, or rather, for a healthy appearance."
