As an observation, in the source text is written " the intelectuall". It should be used instead of "smart guy", because it is said in a very ironic and offensive way.

Thanx for the observation. but I still think that the chosen register of the expression "intelectualu' ăsta" presumes irony. the spoken variant is lowering the register. imho. Maybe i am wrong. it's really too possible

I guess we could say, "That guy who thinks he's so smart", but that's a little too complex.

I think the irony gets across, even if it's not as strong as it was in Romanian.
