The papers by Tregaskis and by Béret et al. share an interest in learning and knowledge transfer in the field of R&D. Tregaskis enhances the traditional theoretical scope of the convergence-divergence debate by using the concepts of "resorce dependency" and "legitimacy" to examine how multinational companies' subsidiaries create power resources through knowledge.
