The papers by Tregaskis and by Béret et al. share an interest in learning and knowledge transfer in the field of R&D. Tregaskis enhances the traditional theoretical scope of the convergence-divergence debate by using the concepts of "resorce dependency" and "legitimacy" to examine how multinational companies' subsidiaries create power resources through knowledge. Her paper analyses the creation of learning networks with in R&D function of three forgein -owned subsidiaries in the UK.
