The meaning of the word "patria" is related to the nation (from Latin patriota) not to the homeland or fatherland which may not be the same.
One can be patriotic to a land, a nation, different from the one where s/he was born.

We have here a draw between two opposing groups, both groups contain first rate translators and I think this decision should be made on the administrative level. The English, in both cases, was just fine. Maybe the best solution is to accept goncin's translation with a note offering lilians alternate, and divide the points between them, since both of them worked very hard on the translation and there is a possibility, I gather, that both might indeed be right.
