Lilian, actually in Chinese it is not specified if there is one photo or more photos, so "a photo" might not be right

Well, even though it's not specified, in English we have to choose. Either we use "a photo" or "photos".
What would not be correct is using the noun "photo" in its singular form lacking an article. See what I mean?
So, you tell me what is better.
