In English it would be "I gave the book to the student". He actually translated "I gave the map to the student". And English-Romanian dictionary, you can find here: http://www.ectaco.co.uk/English-Romanian-Dictionary/ Hope it can help you, though, if the word has an article, as "cartea" has (means "the book" I don't know if it finds it.
