Could this be put "Through knowledge..." rather than "With"?
And could "seek" be replaced by "attain"? (I'm not sure of the Latin, so this is just a suggestion).
I've set a poll.

Não seria melhor colocar "work" em vez de "labour"? | | | 12 Juillet 2008 20:02 | | goncinNombre de messages: 3706 | Ruth,
It seems to me that "attain" is too "finalistic", because the Latin verb has a "try to" acception (we'll try to, but it isn't sure we'll achieve it). Any other suggestion?

Diego,
"Labour" supposes some physical effort ('hard work'), for which I think it translates better the Latin term. | | | 12 Juillet 2008 20:45 | | | Hi Goncin,
What about "pursue"? | | | 12 Juillet 2008 20:50 | | TainoNombre de messages: 60 | Knowledge and labour are our most noble and deep rooted desires | | | 12 Juillet 2008 21:01 | | goncinNombre de messages: 3706 | | | | 15 Juillet 2008 01:30 | | | Hi All
Taino - I don't think the latin says as much as that does it?
Tittyy - If you don't motivate your disagreement with goncin's translation I can't take you opinion into consideration.
Pursue is fine with me
