| | What about "fuck around"? Vulgar, however widely heard.
You can use "f*** around" |
| | 9 Juliol 2008 01:09 |
| | That's a good suggestion. Handyy, is it that strong? CC: handyy |
| | 9 Juliol 2008 01:10 |
| | Actually, I think I found an OK compromise solution. |
| | 9 Juliol 2008 01:13 |
| | |
| | 9 Juliol 2008 01:15 |
| | The only problem is that "screw around" could be misunderstood to mean "not work and just have fun". |
| | 9 Juliol 2008 01:50 |
| | I think that because of the context (marriage, honeymoon) one may imagine the sense in which it's being used, not concerning "work" but "commitment to faithfulness ".
I think it's quite clear. |

| | burada kadar derken zaman olarak bahsetmiyor evleneğime diyoryani until yerine ı prefer le başlasa ya da I think it is better to be bachelor and screw around than to marry and go on honeymooon |

| handyyNombre de missatges: 2118 | Hi Kafetozu, sorry for being late.
your translation is absolutely correct. |
| | 10 Juliol 2008 19:35 |
| | Which one, handyy - the one I had up before or the one that's up there now? |
| | 10 Juliol 2008 19:40 |
| handyyNombre de missatges: 2118 | The current one (btw, I didn't see the former one as I haven't visited the site for some day) |
| | 10 Juliol 2008 19:45 |
| | I had translated "-e kadar" as "until", but buketnur corrected me. |
| | 10 Juliol 2008 19:46 |
| | Lilian, I guess you can accept this now, but don't give me a high rating. CC: lilian canale |

| | Well, actually the sense changed completely now.
When using "until" we understand that the person may get married soon and intends to screw around before that happens.
Using "instead" we get the idea of a decision about changing his lifestyle.
It's really important being sure about that word.
Don't you think?

| handyyNombre de missatges: 2118 | Buketnur is right, "-e kadar" can also mean "until", but it does so in other context.. here "-e kadar" means "-mek yerine" which meets "instead of". you can bu sure of it
he ( it is probably he ) wants a totaly "free" lifestyle.
for example, for such a sentence "Ben arayana kadar beni bekle", we can use "until" there and can say "Wait for me until I call you". (this is a matter of time)
but for "Öğretmen olana kadar doktor olurum" we have to use "instead of" or "rather than" or etc. (this is matter of preference)
