"Spett.le xxx" : "Monsieur X"?
-dandicas, when one's using abbreviations here on cucumis, one has got to submit one's text in "meaning only" mode

Xini or Witchy, pouvez-vous me dire ce que signifie l'abréviation "Spett.le xxx"?
Merci beaucoup!/could you tell me the meaning from "Spett.le xxx"? Thanks a lot!

He's using xxx in order not to use a name, for privacy reasons;
Spett.le = Spettabile, used to start a letter addressed e.g to a company.

It's an adjective and it means something like "honourable" ("worth to be seen". But it's just a formula, like "dear xxx".

Ok, but it isn't sute that XXX is a monsieur, maybe it's a company. I would omit Monsieur and use a more formal formula than cher. Spett.le is very formal.

No, I didn't see it, Xini.
But I don't see too much what to use instead of "Cher monsieur", maybe simply "Monsieur" would be fine, or " Bonjour"...
Maybe little Calimero could help us, now that she's back? My Italian is far too primitive for politness formula...

(forgot the "cc" as well!)
