"I only wanted us to be friends"

it isnt a big changing, but in original text "I oly wanted to be friend." gives the same meaning.

sadece=only, arkadaÅŸ=friend, olmak= to be, istemiÅŸtim= I wanted, maybe I had/ have wanted

In English we have to use something before that singular noun "friend".
We can't say "I only wanted to be friend"

Besides the option I gave above, it could be either "I only wanted to be your friend" or "I only wanted to make friends with you".

"to be friends with you" is fine.
