I guess there is a saying in English which better follows this one but I don't know it

What a beautiful idea! If I understand this correctly, it means something like "You will never find beauty outside yourself if you don't already possess it within you."
I understand the idea, I think, but I don't know if we have a proverb in English to reflect this exact notion...
