| | This is the living example of what poblems can appear when the punctuation misses. A simple comma there changes the whole sense of the phrase. Besides, "mi manchi", it is not even in Romanian. |
| | 29 October 2007 13:42 |
| | Where should have the comma been included, Iepurica? |
| | 29 October 2007 13:47 |
| | For example: "cu copilul, l-am răsfăţat, dacă tot a ajuns acasă..." |

| | I agree, but I don't think these commas in the Romanian typing may change the meaning, or actually, the way this phrase should be translated, right? |
| | 29 October 2007 15:57 |
| | I have to contradict you here. Can be part of an another phrase and it can be translated "with the child, I have spoiled him if he still got home... how are you?" It can reffer actually to two different persons. Though, the initial editing of the text lets place for interpretations and I did not vote against maddie's translation exactly because of that. |

| | i've spoiled the kid if he still got home= am rasfatat copilul daca tot a ajuns acasa |

| | poate CINEVA a fost rasfatat cu copilul... poate copilul a fost rasfatat daca tot a ajuns acasa... poate copilul a fost rasfatat daca altcineva tot a ajuns acasa... |

| | Well, indeed, I haven't thought about that... Maybe somebody was spoiled with the kid, "using" the kid, if that person got home after all. Bad topic and punctuation... |

| FreyaNumber of messages: 1910 | Cred că "cu copilul" de la început n-are niciun sens fără virgulă, aşa "în aer". Fraza trebuia să sune astfel:" Dacă tot a ajuns acasă copilul, l-am răsfăţat" sau "Fiind dat faptul că totuşi a ajuns acasă/Ajungând deja acasă, (eu)l-am răsfăţat." sau mai poate fi şi aşa "cu copilul(în legătură cu copilul),fiindcă totuşi a ajuns acasă, l-am răsfăţat."(= and about the child, as he is back/he's returned home after all, I've spoilt/spoiled him."). Asta e ceea ce cred.
Am zis că e incorectă cea cu "still" în mijlocul propoziţiei fiindcă ştiam că pentru a avea sens de "totuşi" trebuia pus ori la începutul propoziţiei, ori să fie lângă conjuncţii ca "but" sau "and"(ex:"Still I don't believe that it's correct."(Totuşi, nu cred că e corect"...e o diferenţă între "I still don't believe..."(Eu încă nu cred..) şi prima, părerea mea. |
