I think that "Say" should be either "They say" or "It's said". Or perhaps "People say"...

What do you think buket?

Actually it is in command mood in Turkish, but some different. I will try to explain.
This people said something, and the other said "say so that" its meaning:"you mean so that..." "why dont you say it so that...", "you want to mean so that but you are wordy, you don't say it briefly." or only "you want to mean so that..."

I hope that I could explain.
Thanks.

I'm sorry buket, but I still don't get it.

I think I'll ask for some help.

Thank you, my dear.
Say this: "As the years pass, we become like wine"

(In English, you can't put the command form "say" after the quotation.)

Maybe the "this" shouldn't even be there.

A suggestion

Altough this form can't be translated exactly, "As the years pass, we become like wine don't we?" would be better I suppose. Unfortunately the current one doesn't convey the meaning even a bit.

Really? Do you mean that "desene" is equivalent to "deÄŸil mi" here?

Hi, thanks all
I think "why don't say so that..." or " why don't say this..." is better.
What do you think?

say this yerine "say so" ya da "let me say" daha uygun.

Hi Kafetzou,

It's not its equivalent. "desene" here is used with the purpose of emphasizing what is being said. So I just tought it could be better like that. You may be able to think of something better.

Hi Buketnur,

I don't think it would be appropriate either. That structure seems as if an offer is made or an advice is given.

How about this: "As the years pass, we become like wine, you should say."

Yes, that sounds better. I guess it would be appropriate.
