Hm. Maybe I am wrong, but I always thought that the verb "captivate" in an active voice is always followed by "with"

"She captivated everybody with her beauty"

and in a passive voice, followed by "by":

"He was captivated by her beauty"

Well, that's not the case here.

"captivate" is used as "conquer" in this sentence.

Hm, is this possible? I thought only "captive" can mean "conquer", not "captivate".

"captive" is either a noun or an adjective. The verb is "captivate"

What the line intends to mean is that each person has to deserve anything s/he wants to have from her, otherwise s/he will not get it.

Oh, sorry I meant rather "capture".

I didn't know the meaning of "captivate" as ""conquer". My dictionary (Cambridge) doesn't show it at all. But ok. I am going to accept your explanation. Thanks!
