"mi alma seguirá triste por tus problemas":
here, "mi alma" means exactly "my soul" "my soul will go on..."
And I'm not sure that "te quiero" and "I want you" mean the same. "Te quiero" in Spanish is just another way to say "te amo" with no other meaning. | | | 30 July 2007 03:25 | | | My mistake. Although "mi alma" may refer to the person addressed, "seguirá" is *third* person. So, yes, "my soul will go on".
However, translating both "te quiero" and "te amo" as "I love you" in the same sentence strikes me as graceless. | | | 31 July 2007 17:09 | | | "being sad for" doesn't feel like English to me. How about "being sad about"? I can't think of anything more elegant.
I agree with both of you about "te quiero", but since the same person says "te deseo", I think it's OK to translate "te quiero" as "I want you" in this case. | | | 31 July 2007 17:16 | | goncinNumber of messages: 3706 | What about "Tonight my soul will go on in sorrow..."? | | | 31 July 2007 17:27 | | | I like it - thank you, little prince! |
