Not when you say "the disposition of one's personal possessions" - otherwise it sounds like you're throwing them in the garbage, I think. Let's see what the other English experts think.

Yeah, as it stands, to me this means
The throwing out of what one owns, in a productive way
and I don't understand it...

Do you mean
Using what one owns to best advantage?
or
Putting one's possessions to good use?
or
Investing one's assets to obtain maximum profits?
or...?
Hmmm...

no, specifically that there's a change of ownership. i wanted to use selling, but that's too narrow

Hi All

For me "the disposition" invokes either a specific arrangement of the possessions, eg: the way they are set out on a market stall, or as Kafetzou says, their "disoposal" i.e. getting rid of the said possessions.

Since their is a change of ownership and that the changement of ownership is to be done in a profitable manner it is going to be difficult to avoid using the verb "to sell"

What about "Selling off one's possesions in a profitable manner"

'sell' works for me, so does 'disposition'... kafetzou?

In dutch there's a perfect word for it ('vervreemden' litt:alienate),too bad that doesn't work in english

I think disposition is fine.
