I can see that my first translation was rejected because it was too far in meaning from the source.

But translating literally that sentence to Italian it's quite impossible, because it would be ambiguous.

I would suggest:
"Rendi ogni cosa tale da valerne la pena"
but I'm not sure about it.

I would translate:
"Fai in modo che ogni cosa valga la pena"
or
"Rendi ogni cosa tale da valerne la pena".
