It may seems that "to be always unhappy" and "never to be happy" means the same. But when you try to imagine that eg "She was always unhappy" and "She was never happy (in her life)" it makes a difference (to me).

the whole sentence doesn't have a lot of sense to me even in Russian, but translation is correct
