Amo o meu amor
| | Acho que o texto foi escrito em Flamengo. Se foi escrito em Holandês, o significado é ‘Gosto de ver o meu amor’, ou seja, bem menos forte. |

Could you bridge this sentence into English?
The translation is: I love my love.
Lein wrote in the remarks she thinks that it has been written in Flemish. But if it has been written in Dutch the meaning is "I like to see my love".
Thanks CC: Martijn Chantal | | | 26 Szeptember 2008 08:28 | | | Hmm, this is quite a tough one because yes it could be Flemish, and they may give another meaning to it.. In Dutch the literal meaning would indeed be 'I like to see my love', and even though it may have a little different meaning in Flemish.. well.. why don't we ask her? I guess Lein has a good reason why she translated it this way.. .
CC: tristangun | | | 26 Szeptember 2008 19:25 | | | Hello Angelus, Chantal
It's Flemish indeed, "mijn lief" is the boyfriend/girlfriend of the speaker.
So the English bridge would be "I love my darling", or even "I love my love", if you use "love" to describe a person; that's probably the reason there's a confusion :-)
Anyway, Lein's translation is OK, but I'd prefer something like "Eu amo meu querido" to show it's a person you're talking about. | | | 26 Szeptember 2008 19:30 | | | Hello everyone.
Thanks so much for your confirmation.
This translation can be accepted the way it is.
Here the word "amor" is really being addressed to a person. |
