Dampen appropriate strings with the whole left hand while bowing (arco pressato, only bowing noise)
Remarks about the translation
"arco pressato" is international Musicianese (Stringese dialect)

How does it sound to native ears?

Hi Xini

Maybe you should put "whilst" bowing, rather than "while"?

If not, the rest seems fine to me.

I'd forgotten the use of the term "dampen" in this context until I read your text.

I don't speak such good Musicianese, but my Stringese is not that rusty.

Hi Xini

In this particular case, in fact, you can use either form, as both can be translated into Italian (musicianese) as "mentre".

If I made the suggestion it is more because it "sounds" better to my ears.

There is no problem in translating it as it is, mine was just a suggestion, not an imperative.
