affair n'est pas tres bien traduit par le mot car " c'est une histoire d'amour sincere" serait plus exact je pense^^

kaldeska,

La traduction est du français au anglais, et non pas le contraire.

"...a sincere love instance/ manifestation/ example/ situation..." but I don't think affair is good here.

The emotions are not illusions, it's a case of true love (literally, sincere love).

I think the statement is about a particular love affair, so the definite article "The...", referring to certain particular emotions (that the couple is feeling?) is necessary here.
And French would usually use "amour sincère" to say "true love," because the literal translation of "true love" (amour véritable / véritable amour) is not as commonly used.

Dear Professor Megill, I have a serious doubt, isn't "love affair" mostly used for relationships that are outside marriage?

Salut guilon! You're right, if one is married, then "love affair" would refer to an extra-marital love affair, but if one is not married, then any love relationship could be called that!
Maybe it's an ironic comment in English about the impossibility of the coexistence of love and marriage?

I just checked elmota's bridge here under the original Arabic and she seems to agree with me about the definitive article too!

Thanks, Ian! I edited it with the article.

Regarding "sincere", French is just ambiguous: what is "sincère", "cas" or "amour"? When I translated, I interpreted it as being "cas", but for now I'm not sure anymore...

I would remove "the" before "emotions" if I was you, Goncy. (and maybe use "this" instead of "that" in the second proposition, but I'm not a native English speaker either...)

In this case (not affair ), Ian, if you feel OK to accept this now edited version, please do it with no rating and I'll transfer all of the points to elmota, as the translation is now identical to hers.

I was afraid of voting in the beginning 'cause the first time I read it I thought that it couldn't be love affair. I know this term as aventure amoureuse

hmmm, im not really happy about this :s because what i jotted down was what it can be, but really, its terrible terrible Arabic, thats why i didnt wish to see it translated officially, but maybe just help the person who asked for it get along with the rest of his life
