Le plus dur combat est celui qu'on livre. | Remarks about the translation | Bonjour je souhaite faire traduire cette phrase car j'ai pour projet de me la faire tatouer en anglais(américain). Cette phrase est liée au combat d'une maladie, donc très importante pour moi. <edit> "dure" (female gender) with "dur"(male gender) as "combat" is male gender;</edit> merci. |

J'aurais besoin d'un "motto" pareil Mais la vie ne vaut la peine qu'en se battant pour survivre
The English is almost fine, but I think we could make it even better.
"The hardest fight is the one we deliver"
Let me know what you think.

Because I thought about the fight or battle.
We can say : to give a fight/battle.
Can we say "to deliver a fight/battle"?
If this expression sounds English, I agree with Tantine, the best choice is to use "deliver". | | | 12 March 2010 15:46 | | | Hi jedi2000,
Yes, I suggest "deliver" as it seems, to me, to be the most appropriate term in English. As a native English speaker, it "rings" much better in my ears than "give". Both are possible, one can either give battle or deliver a battle, but "deliver" gives your text a much more natural feeling
