Ummm... It sounds a bit awkward though. And, in my dictionary "de haut" means "haughtily". Perhaps we should wait for other suggestions?

Cacue, I guess you can trust Tantine. The meaning of "prendre de haut" in that case is exactly "treat with scorn"

I don't find the phrase awkward at all in English cacue And it is a loyal translation from French to English. Turkishmiss a raison tu peux me faire confiance, je suis parfaîtement bilingue anglais/français

This is the original:

"Je t'aime plus fort alors tiens le premier rôle, ne prends pas mon amour de haut"

Which you translate as:

"I love you too strongly to take the leading role, do not think of my love as a joke."

If I translate your phrase back into French it would give:

"Je t'aime trop fort pour prendre le premier rôle, ne considère pas mon amour comme une blague."

Which is not quite the same thing.
