This is the whole stanza:

[i]And if you'd 'a took to me like a gull takes to the wind
I'd a jumped from my tree and I'd a danced [/i]

The contemporary version would be:
"And if you had taken me like a gull takes to the wind
I would have jumped from my tree and I would have danced."
