I don't speak Turkish, but this sentence doesn't sound right in English at the moment.
Do you mean something like 'All hopes die before they come true'? Where does 'secretly' fit in? Once we have corrected the English sentence, I will set a poll for the translation
Thank you! | | | 7 كانون الاول 2010 19:51 | | | Yes, actually I wanted to say 'All hopes died before they come true' but this is a poetic sentence and the poet used an expression about 'living hopes', like 'living dreams' in English. By using the word 'secretly', the poet is trying to rhyme because it doesn't mean much in Turkish too. I think it has a meaning like 'living your hopes that you have in your very deep'.
I don't say I'm a very good translater, I am only trying to help people | | | 8 كانون الاول 2010 17:18 | | Leinعدد الرسائل: 3389 | Thanks yenerunver
Don't worry about being a good translator - cucumis is all about trying to be helpful and working together
Looking at the Turkish original, which of these options fits best do you think?
All hopes die quietly before they come true (i.e. it is the dying that goes almost unnoticed)
or
All unspoken (quiet) hopes die before they come true (i.e. the hopes have been kept quiet)
Thanks again! | | | 8 كانون الاول 2010 17:16 | | | First one fits better, I think | | | 8 كانون الاول 2010 17:19 | | Leinعدد الرسائل: 3389 |
