Title
non eo tantum uolo tecto tegi quod imbrem ac...
Text
Submitted by patrickd
Source language: Latyn

non eo tantum uolo tecto tegi quod imbrem ac uentum arceat, sed etiam quod uisum et oculos delectet.
Remarks about the translation
Ceci est un extrait de texte de Ciceron assez complexe...
J'avais pensé à: "parcequ'il n'empêche pas que son toit le couvre de la pluie et du vent, mais encore qu'il puisse charmer la vue et les yeux."
Mais je ne suis pas certaine du sens des mots, le sens de la phrase est incorrect et je n'arrive pas à faire paraître la nuance du subjonctif! Merci beaucoup de votre aide.

Title
I want to be covered...
Translation
Engels

Translated by gbernsdorff
Target language: Engels

I want to be covered by a roof that not only shields from rain and wind, but also pleases sight and eyes
Remarks about the translation
*quod ... arceat* and *quod ... delectet* are attributive phrases which call for a conjunctive mode in Latin but not necessarily so in English. If you do want to use the conjunctive you could use: *that would shield ...* and *that would please ...*

his eyes and his senses.. although the meaning of the latin "uisum" is perhaps not this clear.
i.e, see "uisum" in this text: http://www.archive.org/stream/academicstransla00ciceuoft/academicstransla00ciceuoft_djvu.txt
