I need protection. Unfortunately, the police weren't able to help him, so after 3 months he was desperate. Finally he hired a young private detective

In February the detective spent a whole week together with...

Once, some of the ...gangsters caught him and beat him. He knew that next time you would kill him.
Remarks about the translation
If the word "du" is a typo, and it really should be "de", then change "you" to "they" in the final sentence.

The pronouns are confusing here: I --> he --> you

Are they correct?

Also, "the police" should be treated as a plural subject.

I checked the pronouns and they are correct. I wasn't really sure in the last sentence whether the original text was correct or whether there was a spelling mistake. If the last sentence really is "han vidste at næste gang ville du slå ham ihjel." then my translation is correct, but if the last sentence actually is "han vidste at næste gang ville de slå ham ihjel." then the translation must be "he knew that the next time they would kill him".
If police is regarded as a plural object one just has to change "the police wasn't able..." into "the police weren't able...".
Thanks for your commentary!

I've made the plural change mentioned above and a few more small edits, and I'll put it to a vote now.

To give it a better meaning I suggest the following change:
"Finally" instead of "Eventually".
