I think here is used more in the meaning of "insensitive/unaffected".

Could be, even though, usually the word donkey it is associated with stubbornness; there is a Greek expression "ένας γάιδαρος βρέχεται" (Ι.ε. είναι απρόσβλητος ή αναίσθητος)- unaffected or insensitive but it's not used in this sentence. Unfortunately we don't know the context to have a clear picture.

I think the correct word in this case is "jackass", not donkey...

I have chosen a word that could express the idea without being too rough.
