your remark regarding the text is perfect!
Saying "Vart är jag?" is a very common mistake made by swedes. It is always meant "Var är jag?" otherwise it makes no sence.
"Vart" should be used in connection with a direction, "Vart skall jag gå?" = 'Where do I go?'

'onde' is the place wich the person/thing is.
'aonde' is the direction taken.
