I cipressi che a Bolgheri alti e schietti - van da San Guido in duplice filar - quasi in corsa giganti giovinetti - mi balzarono incontro e mi guardar
Remarks about the translation
Quote from ode "Davanti San Guido" by Italian poet Giosuè Carducci (1835-1907)

<Bridge by alexfatt>
"The cypresses that, tall and slender, lead from San Guido to Bolgheri in two rows, nearly like running giant boys, leapt out at me and looked at me"

Please note: "San Guido" and "Bolgheri" are two toponyms, so mustn't be either translated or transliterated.

Hi alexfatt,

I have two questions for you:

- The cypresses that, tall and slender --> The cypresses that are tall and slender (or something else)?

- What is meant by "in two rows"?

Hi rollingmaster,

Thanks for asking, I've been wondering if my bridge was clear or not. It was actually difficult to make the English bridge, because the Italian text is not easy written (as poetry is generally).

- "The cypresses that, tall and slender" -> "The cypresses that are tall and slender"

- It means that there are two lines/rows of cypresses enclosing the path that the poet is recalling.
Here you have a picture representing that way:
Carducci

I hope it is clear now.
