In Brazilian Portuguese this expression: "não existe igual" means exactly what I translated. It doesn't mean that "there isn't (or doesn't exist) another thing", but that there isn't anything alike.

I agree with you Lilian Canale about the sentence there isn't anything like that. But don't you think that the sentence "there's nothing like that" is used more often for expressing this meaning (although both sentences are grammaticaly correct)?

I don't think it would make any difference.
Both forms are used, it's just a matter of choice, I guess.
