İnsanlar uykudadır; ölünce uyanırlar!

Kul Tanrıdır!.. Rab Tanrıdır!..
Ah, bileydim kimdir mükellef...?
Kuldur dersen, o ölüdür!..
Rab'dır dersen, Rab nasıl olur mükellef?

Translation
Engels

Target language: Engels

People are asleep; they wake up when they are dead!

The human being is God!.. The Lord is God!..
Oh, I wish I knew who is accountable...?
If you say it is the human being, he is dead!..
If you say it is the Lord, how can the Lord be accountable?
Remarks about the translation
It could be "he/she/it is dead".

serba, could you please check if this one is correct? I don't recognize the context, but maybe you do.

"mükellef"

"vazifelendirilen; Allah'ın emir ve yasağına muhatap olan,Bir şeyi yapmağa mecbur olan. Vazifeli. "

responsible dan daha uygun bir kelime varsa tamam ama ben de bulamadım.Bu yüzden doğru gibi geliyor bana.Yani eğer responsible kelimesi bu anlamları veriyorsa tamam...

"amenable" (accountable, responsible; open to criticism or examination) nasıl olurdu? ben onu kullanmıştım çünkü "eleştireye veya sınamaya açık olmanın" mükellef olmakla ilgisi var diye düşündüm

"amenable" doesn't work in this context. We say someone is "amenable to" something, and that's the only way it is used.

How about "in charge"? There's also an idiom "pulling the strings", but I don't think that would be appropriate. Let me think about this one.

How about "accountable"?

oh, that's better than responsible because accountable=obligated to give an account, isn't it?

Yes. I'll change it and accept it.
